Boxer History

The Boxer, a relatively young breed, originates from Germany but has since spread all over the world. This breed descends from the Brabanter Bullebijter, which was used in England, among other places, for bullfights. At the beginning of the 20th century, these animals were crossed with the English Bulldog, after which the final Boxer was created. These animals were entered in the studbook for the first time in Bavaria.

The Boxer is a good-humoured, playful, curious and energetic dog. This dog can be stubborn and devious, but these dogs are highly intelligent and they learn quickly. Boxers are dogs with a strong appetite for prey. The Boxer needs thorough obedience training to steer its character into acceptable paths. Boxers have a close relationship with the family they live in and they are loyal and affectionate.

These dogs get along well with children and also get along well with other dogs and pets. The Boxer uses his front legs for everything. This good guard dog loves to jump and will protect his family as well as their home. Boxers are often boisterous and they love human company. These dogs are known for their bravery and they will protect you from any burglar. Boxers require a strict and consistent upbringing.

Health

Like all dog breeds, the Boxer needs proper care and regular vet examinations. That Dogs is predisposed to structural problems such as hip dysplasia and digestive problems. And also when it comes to gastric torsion – where the stomach is twisted resulting in a blockage of the esophagus on one side and the intestine on the other – the Boxer is no exception compared to other deep-chested dogs. Boxers tend to develop tumors around age eight. They also fall prey to other health problems such as thyroid problems, cardiomyopathy, sub-aortic stenosis, and epilepsy. They also drool and snore.

Care of the Boxer

Boxers have a hard and short coat, which must be maintained with a soft brush. This dog sheds moderately and the natural shine of the coat can be enhanced by occasional rubbing.
